Robotic surgery uses the da Vinci Surgical System, where the surgeon operates through small keyhole incisions using robotic arms controlled from a console. It offers greater precision, less blood loss, smaller scars, and faster recovery compared to open surgery — particularly for prostate, kidney, and reconstructive procedures.
For most complex urological procedures, robotic surgery has lower complication rates, less pain, and shorter hospital stays than open surgery. Outcomes depend heavily on surgeon experience — Dr. Likhiteswer has performed over 400 robotic procedures and 1,000+ laparoscopic cases.
Treatment depends on stone size and location. Small stones may pass with medication and hydration. Larger stones are treated with ESWL (shock wave lithotripsy), RIRS (laser through a flexible scope), PCNL (keyhole surgery for large stones), or URSL (ureteroscopic laser). Most patients go home within 24–48 hours.
Options range from medication for mild cases to minimally invasive procedures like HoLEP, ThuFLEP, Rezum, and iTIND for moderate-to-severe symptoms. TURP remains a reliable option in selected cases. Dr. Likhiteswer will recommend the approach based on prostate size, symptoms, and overall health.
Most patients are discharged within 1–3 days. Light activity resumes within a week, and most return to work within 2–3 weeks.
